We’re excited to announce that two youth-led projects under our Turning the Tides program are making waves this summer, driving creative, community-based solutions to plastic pollution!
Reimagining Plastic is engaging visitors at RioCan Burlington Centre through hands-on upcycling workshops and a collaborative art installation that transforms plastic waste into functional or artistic creations. This exciting initiative invites everyone to learn about plastic pollution and get inspired to creatively repurpose everyday items.
Read to Recycle is bringing environmental education to life for young children and their families in Hamilton! The youth team behind this project are developing an original picture book that teaches about recycling habits through colourful illustrations and engaging, kid-friendly storytelling. The book will be featured as part of interactive workshops that include storytime, hands-on activities, and take-home resources designed to help families build recycling habits together. Through cross-generational engagement, Read to Recycle will support long-term plastic waste reduction, starting with our youngest learners.
Together, these youth-driven projects are fostering creativity, awareness, and real change in the fight against plastic pollution. Stay tuned for updates and opportunities to get involved!
