Pollution Probe Welcomes Announcement of Canada’s New Climate Competitiveness Strategy

TORONTO – November 10, 2025 – Pollution Probe is honoured to have been invited by the federal government to join the announcement of Canada’s Climate Competitiveness Strategy in support of Budget 2025. On November 9, 2025, the Hon. Julie Dabrusin, Minister of Environment & Climate Change, and the Hon. Tim Hodgson, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, announced the government’s new strategy while on-site at the Pearl Street Energy Centre in Toronto, along with Members of Parliament, Chi Nguyen and Karim Bardeesy. The Strategy represents an important step in further aligning Canada’s economic prosperity and clean-growth ambitions.

Key features of the strategy include:

  • A 15% refundable investment tax credit for eligible low emission generation and storage and a 30% clean technology manufacturing credit for equipment and mineral processing.
  • Strengthened industrial carbon pricing and regulatory clarity to provide long-term certainty for businesses and investors.
  • Acknowledgement that future economic growth depends on integrated systems, including clean power, efficient transportation, resource recovery and circular infrastructure.
  • Commitment to the creation of good jobs, training, youth-related opportunities and inclusive participation.

The announcement also provided an opportunity to highlight the Government of Canada’s new investments in critical minerals that will power Canada’s clean energy future. Budget 2025 commits more than $2 billion over five years in the sector to accelerate production, create high-quality jobs, and strengthen Canada’s position in the global market.

“Pollution Probe looks forward to working with Environment and Climate Change Canada and Natural Resources Canada to support the implementation of the Climate Competitiveness Strategy, ensuring measurable progress, and meaningful community and environmental benefits for our country.”
