Voluntary Initiatives

The Voluntary Initiatives Resource Centre (VIRC), which was recently updated, provides information about the design and use of voluntary environmental initiatives and gives users the opportunity to participate in forum discussions. The resource centre, which is the first of its kind in Canada, features actual agreements, annotated bibliographies, case studies and web links.

The interactive nature of VIRC is intended to provide stakeholders with an opportunity to discuss current initiatives and best practices, as well as identify areas for improvement, in hopes of establishing a strong foundation for the development of future environmental agreements and initiatives that will result in better environmental performance.

Pollution Probe gratefully acknowledges the funding support provided by the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Environment Canada and the Helen McCrea Peacock Foundation at the Toronto Community Foundation for the development of VIRC.

If you have questions or comments about VIRC, or if you would like to set up a user account, which will allow you to participate in the forum, please contact BoAnne Tran at Pollution Probe at virc@pollutionprobe.org.
