SaskPower – GreenPower
SaskPower's GreenPower program was launched in 2002 and offers Green Power from the 11.2 MW SunBridge wind power project (installed in 2001 and owned and operated by Suncor Energy and Enbridge) and SaskPower's own 5.9 MW Cypress Wind Power Project (installed in October 2002). Both the source facilities and the Green Power product are EcoLogo-certified. Due to continued customer demand for Green Power, SaskPower added seven wind turbines to the Cypress Facilities in December 2003. The total generating capacity at Cypress and SunBridge will be about 22 MW – enough to meet the needs of 9,000 households. In 2004, more than 900 residential, farm and business customers were participating in SaskPower GreenPower. The federal and provincial governments are major purchasers. The program offers Green Power at a premium of $2.50 per 100 kWh block. Large contracts are negotiated. www.saskpower.com/greengen/greenpower/greenpower.shtml
