Pollution Probe has four major programmes and several special programme areas.

Major Programme Areas:

  • Air: The air programme promotes tougher controls on urban smog, reduced acid gas emissions, improved public transit and cleaner vehicles and fuels.

  • Water:  Pollution Probe envisions a New Approach to Water Management; one that takes a progressive, prevention-oriented, forward-looking, long-term view of what is needed to achieve future sustainability. Pollution Probe believes that new principles, institutions and partnerships are needed to protect and enhance Canada's water resources.

  • Climate Change: Pollution Probe is actively engaged in initiatives to address climate change, including conducting research, engaging partners, implementing projects, holding events and contributing to the development of new policies to honour Canada's commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

  • Energy:  Pollution Probe's work on energy conservation continues, notably at Ontario Energy Board hearings, where we consistently promote the '3 Es' of responsible energy use: energy efficiency, energy from renewables and emission reductions from generating plants. Our work on Green Power has culminated in a Green Power Vision & Strategy for Canada.
