Pollution Probe is pleased to announce the release of its latest report, “Unlocking the Electric Mobility Potential of Toronto: Moving Toward an Electric Mobility Master Plan for the City”. Planning for electric vehicles is complex work, as it cuts across the scope of many organizations. This report is the result of in-depth research, analysis and consultation with stakeholders, which culminated in a comprehensive set of recommendations for advancing the deployment of electric vehicle technology in Canada’s largest urban region.

Driving Electric: Understanding Electric Vehicle Technology and Environmental Benefits

With support from Transport Canada, Pollution Probe has produced an educational brochure highlighting the latest in hybrid-electric and electric vehicle technology. Driving Electric showcases what hybrid-electric and electric vehicle technologies exists and the differences between them. It also highlights how the diverse range of technologies can be used to fit a number of lifestyles while also offering opportunities to maximize environmental benefits.

Primer on Automobile Fuel Efficiency and Emissions

The Canadian Automobile Association and Pollution Probe are pleased to publish the Primer on Automobile Fuel Efficiency and Emissions, a first-of-its-kind primer to help Canadians save fuel and reduce emissions of air pollutants and greenhouse gases.
The Primer on Automobile Fuel Efficiency and Emissions examines the factors that govern fuel efficiency, both from a vehicle design and driver operation perspective. It also provides Canadians with a clear overview of strategies they can adopt to reduce fuel consumption.

Public Opinion Research: Purchasing Fuel-efficient Vehicles in Canada
Pollution Probe and CAA South Central Ontario conducted public opinion research with CAASCO members to determine public attitudes towards highly fuel efficient vehicles. This report summarizes the results of this research.

Promoting and Sustaining Consumer Demand for Highly Fuel Efficient Automobiles: A “How-To” Guidebook Developed by Pollution Probe and CAA South Central Ontario

This guidebook is designed to provide organizations with tools and techniques to help create a shift towards more environmentally sustainable personal transportation. By identifying a range of practical and actionable measures that target barriers for specific consumer segments, the guidebook can help move both the public at large and the automobile industry towards greater fuel efficiency.
This report is the outcome of a yearlong research project that involved expert consultation, literature review, and market research. For additional insight on consumers and fuel efficient vehicles in Canada, please refer to our supplemental research documents.

Low Carbon Fuel Standards for Canada

On June 3–4, 2008, Pollution Probe hosted a National Conference on Low Carbon Fuel Standards for Canada. This conference constituted Pollution Probe’s initial work on the issue of low carbon fuel standards and how they can be applicable in a Canadian context, particularly as province-led measures. This report is designed to capture the essence of the presentations and discussions that occurred during the conference.
