Give a Gift of Securities

Give a Gift of Securities and pay no capital gains tax.  When individuals sell appreciated stocks, mutual funds or flow through shares, they are required to pay tax on 50 per cent of the resulting capital gains; however, if they donate the securities to a registered charity, they pay no capital gains tax.  This makes appreciated stocks one of the most cost-effective ways to donate to Pollution Probe.  However, please be aware that securities must be transferred, not first cashed in, to be eligible for this tax benefit.

•    Once the transfer is complete, you receive an official donation receipt based on the value of the securities at the close
           of business on the day they that are received by Pollution Probe.
•    You will receive a copy of Pollution Probe’s donor newsletter, P₂ by mail or email. Our newsletter updates donors on the
          environmental issues important to them, whether in their daily lives or on a larger scale, as well as keeps them abreast of
          our activities, reports and public events.
