Report of the National Policy Consultation on Children's Health and the Environment
May 2008

Pollution Probe, in partnership with the Canadian Partnership for Children’s Health and Environment (CPCHE), organized a National Policy Consultation Series on Children’s Health and Environment. This year-long process involved hosting workshops in six regions of the country to engage and educate a broad range of stakeholders on children’s health and environment issues. The process culminated in the preparation of a report on the results of the consultations.

Child Health and the Environment - A Primer

Children's environmental health is a large and rapidly growing field. This Primer aims to provide a solid introduction to a vast and complex topic. It will enable the reader to understand the basis for concern about environmental impacts on children's health, and will make it easier to pursue further readings and research into this vitally important issue.

In tandem, an 8-page brochure has been created that provides practical and easy childproofing tips to protect our children.

Toxic Substances — Focus on Children Project: Developing a Canadian List of Substances of Concern to Children's Health.
June 2004

Prepared by Canadian Environmental Law Association / Pollution Probe

This report is the primary finding of a 14-month study conducted for the Canadian Environmental Law Association (CELA) and Pollution Probe. It reviews the literature and gathers and analyzes dozens of lists containing thousands of substances which are a concern to children's health. These lists are created by regulatory agencies and other organizations around the world, but they are rarely collated and coordinated.

Healthy Schools - Healthy Children: Improving the Indoor Environment in Ontario Schools.
May 2000
This report is part of a two phase project that aims to assess the range of indoor environmental issues facing Ontario schools - address the following: the state of indoor environments in Ontario schools; current legal authority and responsibility for issues related to indoor environmental quality and children's health in schools; jurisdictional leadership (including case studies of indoor environmental programmes in schools); the economic implications of improving indoor environments in schools; a proposed framework for a voluntary indoor environmental management plan; and, recommendations for actions (58 pages).
